New Haven's Bold Move to Division I and Joining the Northeast Conference

The University of New Haven is transitioning to Division I and joining the NEC.

The University of New Haven has taken a significant step by accepting an invitation to become a full member of the Northeast Conference as it makes the transition from Division II to Division I. Commissioner Noreen Morris and school president Jens Frederiksen announced this on Tuesday. The Chargers will become full Division I members in 2028-29 and will start integrating into NEC schedules this year, except for football. During the transition, they can participate in some conference championships. Two other NEC members, Stonehill and Le Moyne, are also in the process of transitioning to Division I.
