Steve O'Rourke has officially been named the first head coach of the PWHL Seattle expansion team, a move that signals a new chapter in the growth of women's hockey. O'Rourke, who brings 15 years of coaching experience, most recently served as the head coach for the Ontario Hockey League's Oshawa Generals.

O'Rourke's appointment is particularly significant given his deep ties to the Pacific Northwest. Having played hockey at Washington State, he has witnessed the region's burgeoning passion for the sport firsthand. "This is something I've thought about since the league was first announced," O'Rourke said in a statement. "To now be given the opportunity to work with the best players in the world and be part of a professional league that is thriving both on and off the ice is truly amazing."

PWHL Seattle is already assembling a formidable roster, headlined by Hilary Knight, a four-time Olympian and one of the most decorated players in women's hockey. Knight, who tied for the PWHL lead with 29 points last season, will be joined by other top talents such as Alex Carpenter, a two-time U.S. Olympian, and Danielle Serdachny, the No. 2 pick in last year's draft.
