Thomas Detry Triumphs at Phoenix Open: A Historic First PGA Tour Victory

Belgium's Thomas Detry clinched his maiden PGA Tour title with a commanding win at the Phoenix Open, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Thomas Detry made history at the Phoenix Open, securing his first PGA Tour title with an outstanding seven-shot victory. Detry finished the tournament at an impressive 24 under par, showcasing his skill and consistency across four rounds. His final day performance was marked by six-under-par 65, including four consecutive birdies that cemented his lead.

Detry began the final round with a two-shot advantage and maintained his composure throughout the day. Despite a brief challenge from playing partner Daniel Berger, who closed the gap to two shots, Detry sealed the win with a remarkable approach on the par-three 16th, setting up an easy birdie.

"It's incredible, it's what dreams are made of," Detry shared with Sky Sports. "That walk on the last hole was incredible."

The victory was a poignant moment for Detry, celebrated with his wife and two young children. It marked his first professional win since the 2018 World Cup of Golf, where he partnered with Thomas Pieters.

Other notable performances included Michael Kim and Daniel Berger, who tied for second at 17 under, and Jordan Spieth and Christiaan Bezuidenhout, who shared fourth place at 16 under.

Detry's triumph not only signifies a personal milestone but also shines a spotlight on Belgian golf, making him the first from his country to claim a PGA Tour title.
