Daniel Dubois remains steadfast in his pursuit of a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, despite a recent illness forcing him to withdraw from his scheduled title defense against Joseph Parker. Promoter Frank Warren has confirmed that the IBF heavyweight champion is still on track for a unification bout against the Ukrainian superstar.

Dubois, 27, was set to defend his title in Saudi Arabia last Saturday but was sidelined due to health issues. However, Warren emphasized that a rematch with Usyk, who holds the WBO, WBA (Super), and IBF titles, is a top priority.

"We’re looking at the next move, which could either be Usyk in a unification fight for all four belts or a potential clash with Anthony Joshua," Warren revealed in an interview with BBC 5 Live. "We’ll discuss the options as a team and make a decision soon. Ultimately, it’s Daniel’s call as he’s the one stepping into the ring."

The Dubois-Usyk rivalry dates back to August 2023, when Usyk secured a ninth-round stoppage victory. Since then, Dubois has risen to prominence, claiming the IBF title after Usyk vacated it in June 2024. The Briton has since defended his belt with a dominant fifth-round stoppage of Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium.

Despite the disappointment of missing the Parker fight, Dubois remains optimistic. "Daniel felt he could have done the same to Parker," Warren commented. "He’s disappointed, but he’s determined to bounce back stronger."
