Pro-Palestinian Activists Target Trump Turnberry: Golf Resort Vandalized Amid Gaza Controversy

Pro-Palestinian activists vandalized Trump's Turnberry golf resort in Scotland, spraying 'Gaza is not for sale' and damaging greens and infrastructure, amid Trump's controversial Gaza proposals.

Trump Turnberry Golf Resort Vandalized by Pro-Palestinian Activists

In a bold act of protest, parts of Donald Trump’s prestigious Turnberry golf resort in Scotland were vandalized by a pro-Palestinian group. The group, Palestine Action, shared images on social media showing red paint splattered across one of the resort’s buildings and the words 'Gaza is not for sale' spray-painted across a green. Another green appeared to have been dug up, and a lamp post was damaged.

The Political Backdrop

The incident comes amidst ongoing international criticism of Trump’s controversial proposals regarding Gaza. Earlier this year, Trump suggested the U.S. take ownership of the Gaza Strip and redevelop it, even proposing that Palestinians should relocate. These comments, made during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, sparked outrage across the Middle East and beyond.

The Impact on Turnberry

Turnberry, one of the world’s top five golf courses, has a storied history, having hosted The Open Championship four times. However, it has not been part of the Open schedule since Trump acquired the resort in 2014. The resort underwent a massive refurbishment after its purchase and remains a symbol of luxury in the golfing world.

A spokesperson for Trump Turnberry condemned the vandalism as a 'childish, criminal act', but assured the public that the resort’s operations would not be affected. 'Turnberry is a national treasure and will continue to be the number one beacon of luxury and excellence in the world of golf,' the spokesperson stated.

Activist Statement

Palestine Action, a direct action network, released a statement saying: 'We reject Donald Trump’s treatment of Gaza as though it were his property to dispose of as he likes. To make that clear, we have shown him that his own property is not safe from acts of resistance. We will continue to take action against US-Israeli colonialism in the Palestinian homeland.'

Police Investigation

Police Scotland confirmed they are investigating the incident, which occurred in the early hours of March 8, 2025. Authorities are yet to make any arrests.

This act of vandalism highlights the intersection of global politics and sports, as activists use high-profile locations like Trump Turnberry to draw attention to their cause. While the damage to the resort is significant, the broader implications of Trump’s Gaza proposals continue to reverberate internationally.
