Calum Hill Aims for PGA Tour Card After Stunning Joburg Open Win

Calum Hill eyes a PGA Tour card after his Joburg Open victory, aiming to join the elite ranks of professional golf in the USA.

Calum Hill, the 30-year-old Scottish golfer, has set his sights on securing a PGA Tour card following his impressive victory at the Joburg Open. This win marks his second DP World Tour title and has propelled him to 11th place in the Race to Dubai ranking. The top 10 players on this list at the end of the year, who do not already have PGA Tour status, will receive a card for the prestigious United States-based circuit.

Aiming for the PGA Tour Hill expressed his determination to achieve this goal, stating, 'Yes 100%, it's probably the main one this season.' His wife, Miranda, hails from Arizona, and Hill has spent considerable time in the USA, making the prospect of playing on the PGA Tour even more appealing. 'It would suit me nicely if I was able to continue the position I'm in and by the end of the year get one of those 10 cards – I'd be very happy,' he added.

Dramatic Victory at Joburg Open Hill's victory at the Joburg Open was nothing short of dramatic. He secured the win on the second play-off hole after equalling a course-record 62 in his final round. This triumph not only earned him the title but also lifted him 126 places to 160th in the world ranking.

Scottish Golfers' Ambitions Hill is not alone in his aspirations. Fellow Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre, currently 18th in the world, is also eager to compete in the States. Hill acknowledged the shared ambition among Scottish golfers on the DP World Tour, saying, 'All of us that are in that same group that are playing in Europe right now are all aiming for that card to get to America.'

Career Trajectory Hill believes that the PGA Tour is the ultimate destination for most professional golfers. 'I think it's where most of the people would want to go towards in their career trajectory,' he said. 'I think we'd all be delighted to join Bob out there and hopefully have a good PGA Tour career.'

Hill's journey from the Joburg Open to potentially securing a PGA Tour card is a testament to his skill and determination. As he continues to climb the ranks, the golfing world will be watching closely to see if he can achieve his dream of competing on the PGA Tour.
