Paris-Nice Stage 6: Pedersen Triumphs as Vingegaard Withdraws and British Duo Misses Victory

Mads Pedersen clinched victory in Paris-Nice Stage 6, while Jonas Vingegaard withdrew and British cyclists Josh Tarling and Sam Watson narrowly missed the win.

Paris-Nice Stage 6 Recap

In a thrilling finish to the sixth stage of Paris-Nice, Denmark's Mads Pedersen emerged victorious, narrowly outpacing British cyclists Josh Tarling and Sam Watson. The 209.8km route from Saint-Julien-en-Saint-Alban to Berre l'Etang saw Pedersen hold off Tarling in the final 100 meters, with Watson securing third place.

Vingegaard's Withdrawal

Two-time Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard withdrew from the race before the start of Friday's stage due to a wrist injury sustained on Thursday. His absence allowed his American teammate Matteo Jorgenson to extend his overall race lead. Jorgenson's Visma-Lease a Bike team executed a strategic attack nearly 60km from the finish, distancing five of the top 10 riders in the general classification, including Joao Almeida.

Race Conditions and Strategy

The stage was marked by cold, wet, and windy conditions, which added to the challenge for the peloton. Jorgenson's tactical move not only illuminated the race but also secured him an additional four seconds at the top of the general classification.

Upcoming Stage

Saturday's penultimate stage will take the peloton over a mountainous 109.5km route from Nice to Auron, promising more excitement and strategic racing.
