Scottie Scheffler Eyes Masters Defense with Renewed Confidence

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler gears up to defend his Masters title, expressing confidence in his improving form and overcoming early season setbacks.

As the 2025 Masters Tournament approaches, world number one Scottie Scheffler is feeling optimistic about his game. Despite a slow start to the season, Scheffler believes he is getting back to his best form just in time to defend his title at Augusta National.

A Challenging Start to the Season

Scheffler has yet to secure a tournament win in 2025, a stark contrast to this time last year when he had already claimed victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship. His defense of the Players Championship this year didn’t go as planned, finishing tied for 20th. His preparation for the season was further hampered by an unfortunate injury sustained during the holiday season.

Overcoming Adversity

In December 2024, Scheffler suffered a hand injury while preparing Christmas dinner, stabbing himself with the broken stem of a wine glass. This setback forced him to take significant time off, impacting his early season performance.

"I think it would be silly to say that it didn't set me back a little bit because I had to take a good amount of time off," Scheffler admitted. "As a right-handed golfer, any injury to that hand, especially a surgical one, is going to have an effect. But each day, my hand continues to improve. My body is getting back to where it needs to be, and my swing is coming around as well. I'm definitely excited about the improvements I'm making."

Steady Progress

Despite the lack of victories, Scheffler's results have been respectable, with two top-10 finishes in his five events so far this year. He remains focused on his goal of claiming back-to-back Masters titles when the tournament begins on April 10.

"The results this year have been decent," Scheffler added. "I feel like I'm really close to playing some really nice golf again. I've got another good week of prep here at home, and I felt like we learned a lot last week at Sawgrass. I'm definitely excited about the things that we kind of figured out when we were in Jacksonville."

As Scheffler continues to refine his game, the golfing world eagerly anticipates his performance at Augusta National, where he aims to solidify his legacy as one of the sport's greats.
