Bristol Bears Secure Key Players: Atkin-Davies and Botterman Extend Contracts

England stars Lark Atkin-Davies and Hannah Botterman commit to Bristol Bears with two-year extensions, boosting the team's future prospects.

Bristol Bears have made a significant move in securing the futures of two of their star players, Lark Atkin-Davies and Hannah Botterman, both of whom have signed two-year contract extensions. This announcement comes as a major boost for the Premiership Women's Rugby side, especially with both players being integral parts of the England Women's Six Nations squad under John Mitchell.

Lark Atkin-Davies: A Pillar of Strength

Lark Atkin-Davies, the England hooker, has been a standout performer for both club and country. With 62 caps for England and 12 tries in 14 games for Bristol Bears during the 2024-25 season, Atkin-Davies has proven her worth time and again. Her journey with the Bears began in 2022 when she joined from Worcester, and she has since become a key figure in the team's success.

"This club, the fans, the people, and the incredible atmosphere at Ashton Gate and Shaftesbury Park make it a special place to play. I can't wait to keep building with this team on and off the field," said Atkin-Davies.

Head coach Dave Ward praised Atkin-Davies, stating, "Lark has played some outstanding rugby this season and the levels she has achieved both at set piece and in the loose she must be in the frame for the standout hooker in the world right now."

Hannah Botterman: A Consistent Force

Hannah Botterman, the loose-head prop, joined the Bears from Saracens in 2023 and has been a consistent starter this season, making 13 appearances. With 52 caps for England, Botterman is a seasoned player who brings immense value to the team.

"We still believe her best rugby is in front of her and we can't wait to see that in a Bears shirt," Ward added. "The personality and energy she brings to the group is something very unique to her and we are very happy she is here to stay."

Future Prospects

This double signing follows the recent contract extensions of Abbie Ward and Sarah Bern, further solidifying Bristol Bears' commitment to building a strong and competitive squad. With these key players secured, the future looks bright for the Bears as they aim to make a significant impact in the upcoming seasons.
