James Wharton, George Hill and Dom Bess all hit half-centuries for Yorkshire. Durham's Brendan Doggett impressed with 4-69. The play was intense, with several wickets falling and notable innings. Bad light ended play early.

Yorkshire old boy Alex Lees won the toss for Durham. Captain Jonny Bairstow contributed 22 in a brief innings. Just before the light closed in, Ben Raine struck twice.
