Tite Announces Health-Focused Sabbatical from Football
Former Brazil coach Tite steps away from football to prioritize health, reflecting on his career and future in the sport.

Former Brazil head coach Tite has declared an indefinite hiatus from football to focus on his health. The 63-year-old, who led Brazil from 2016 to 2022 and secured the Copa America title in 2019, made this decision following a recent health scare.
Last August, Tite was hospitalized due to a heart condition, and more recently, he was on the verge of rejoining Corinthians, a club he has managed three times before. However, according to local media, Tite experienced an anxiety attack the night before he was scheduled to sign with Corinthians, prompting this pause.
In a heartfelt statement shared on his son Matheus Bachi's Instagram, Tite expressed, "I realized that there are moments when acknowledging my vulnerability as a human being will ultimately strengthen me. My passion for football remains undiminished, but after consulting with my family and heeding my body's warnings, I've decided it's crucial to step back and focus on my health for as long as necessary."
Tite's tenure as Brazil's coach concluded after a penalty shootout loss to Croatia in the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals in Qatar. He later managed Flamengo but was dismissed in September after a year in charge.
This break marks a significant moment in Tite's illustrious career, highlighting the increasing awareness of mental and physical health in high-pressure sports environments.
