Anthony Joshua Prepares for Elbow Surgery Ahead of Boxing Comeback
Anthony Joshua announces elbow surgery, targeting a return to the ring after recovery. Updates on potential matchups and his boxing journey.

Anthony Joshua, the two-time world heavyweight champion, has revealed plans to undergo elbow surgery this month, delaying his return to the ring. The 35-year-old boxer has been sidelined since his fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley in September 2025.
Joshua emphasized the importance of recovery, stating, "I’m trying to get my body right before making a comeback. I’ll have a small surgery on my elbow in May, which will keep me out of the gym for six to eight weeks. Once I’m healed, I’ll be back."
Despite his recent setback, Joshua remains a prominent figure in the boxing world. He was ringside in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to witness Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez’s victory over William Scull on points. Promoter Eddie Hearn has also expressed confidence in a potential showdown between Joshua and Tyson Fury, another two-time heavyweight champion. Hearn believes a direct message on social media could reignite talks for the highly anticipated bout.
Joshua’s career highlights include winning Olympic super heavyweight gold at London 2012 and unifying the WBA, IBF, and WBO world heavyweight titles in 2018. After reclaiming his titles from Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019, he was dethroned by Oleksandr Usyk in 2021.
Fans eagerly await Joshua’s return, as he continues to work towards reclaiming his place at the top of the heavyweight division.
