Shropshire swimmer Ollie Morgan continues to make waves in the swimming world, setting a new British record in the 100m backstroke at the British Swimming Championships. The 21-year-old athlete, who has been dominating the backstroke events for three consecutive years, achieved a remarkable time of 52.12 seconds, surpassing his previous record of 52.70 seconds set last year.

Morgan expressed his astonishment at his rapid progress, stating, "I was shocked to see the wall and see the time. The progress is mind-blowing, constantly dropping time." His performance in London, where he also clinched gold in the 50m and 200m backstroke, has set high expectations for the upcoming World Championships in Singapore this summer.

With the event scheduled from July 11 to August 3, Morgan is confident in his ability to compete at the highest level. Reflecting on his eighth-place finish at the Paris Olympics last year, he noted, "I would have been 0.1 seconds off winning in Paris with my time last week." He remains focused on delivering his best performance, emphasizing the importance of staying humble and grounded.
