London Mavericks staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Birmingham Panthers 69-67, keeping their play-off hopes alive in the Netball Super League.


In a nail-biting encounter at the Skydome in Coventry, London Mavericks pulled off a stunning comeback to secure a 69-67 victory over Birmingham Panthers, bolstering their play-off aspirations in the Netball Super League. The Mavericks, trailing by nine points after the first quarter, turned the tide to lead 36-31 at halftime. However, the Panthers, cheered on by their home crowd, regained the lead late in the fourth quarter.
Emily Andrew spearheaded the Mavericks' resurgence with a series of crucial two-point scores, while Emma Thacker sealed the win with a decisive super shot in the final minute. This victory keeps the Mavericks in fourth place, six points clear of Nottingham Forest, with two matches remaining in the regular season.
Mavericks' head coach, Camilla Buchanan, expressed her delight: "The race for the top four is still on. We are absolutely over the moon to be in this position and will focus on getting stronger in the remaining games."
In other league action, London Pulse reclaimed the top spot with a commanding 73-50 win over Leeds Rhinos. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest kept their play-off hopes alive with a 66-62 victory against Loughborough Lightning, thanks to standout performances from Natasha Pavelin and Rolene Streutker, who scored 41 goals.
Manchester Thunder secured their play-off spot with a 59-54 win over Cardiff Dragons, led by Elmere van der Berg's 37 goals. Despite Georgia Rowe's 26 goals for the Dragons, they remain at the bottom of the league.
With the season nearing its climax, the competition for the top four spots in the Netball Super League remains fiercely contested.
