GB Dominates Para-Canoe Medal Tally at European Championships 2025

The Great Britain Para-Canoe team showcased exceptional talent at the 2025 European Championships, clinching a total of nine medals—four gold, four silver, and one bronze—to dominate the medal table. This impressive haul placed them seven medals ahead of their closest competitors.
Laura Sugar continued her stellar performance in the sport by winning the women's KL3 200m event. She outpaced France's Nelia Barbosa by a significant margin of 1.747 seconds, adding the European title to her already impressive collection of Paralympic and World Championship titles.
In the men's events, Ed Clifton secured a silver medal in the VL2 200m, finishing behind Portugal's Norberto Mourao. Stuart Wood also earned a silver in the VL3 200m, showcasing the depth of talent within the British team.
Charlotte Henshaw was another standout performer, winning two medals on Saturday. She took gold in the KL2 and silver in the VL3, where she was narrowly beaten by compatriot Hope Gordon, who won by half a length. David Phillipson, a 36-year-old Paralympic silver medallist, held off Italy's Christian Volpi to win the KL2 final in a time of 41.516 seconds. Jonny Young added to the medal tally with a silver in the KL3, while Taylor Gough made a remarkable international debut by earning a bronze in the VL1 final.
