Three-time speedway world champion Tai Woffinden discusses his uncertain future in the sport following a severe crash in March, leaving fans and the motorsport community in suspense.

Three-time speedway world champion Tai Woffinden has opened up about his uncertain future in the sport after a life-altering crash in March. The 34-year-old from Scunthorpe was placed in a medically-induced coma following the incident in Poland, which left him with multiple severe injuries, including a double break in his right leg, a broken back, and a punctured lung.
In a candid discussion with his wife Faye on his YouTube channel, Woffinden revealed his doubts about returning to speedway. "I feel like I'd like to sit on my bike at some point and maybe do a few laps, but I just don't know," he admitted. The crash occurred on 30 March when Woffinden collided with a teammate and hit a fence behind a protective barrier, resulting in extensive injuries and blood loss.
Woffinden, one of Britain's most decorated speedway riders with Grand Prix world titles in 2013, 2015, and 2018, described the harrowing moments of the crash. "I was sliding along the track, and I knew it was going to hurt. I heard my femur snap. I couldn't see either of my hands because my arm was broken," he recalled. Despite the physical and emotional toll, Woffinden remains determined to recover, though he acknowledges the uncertainty of his future in the sport.
"I've got a goal in my head to be back as fast as I can, but that's just something I need to chase, to focus on, and give me that drive," he said. "The reality is I don't know what's next for me."
As the motorsport community rallies behind him, Woffinden's journey serves as a testament to the resilience required in high-speed racing. His story continues to inspire fans worldwide, who eagerly await his next move.
