British Teen Tennis Stars Shine at Wimbledon 2025

Discover how British teenage tennis stars Mika Stojsavljevic, Hannah Klugman, and Mimi Xu are making history at Wimbledon 2025.

For the first time in Wimbledon history, three British players aged 17 and under will compete in the women's singles draw. Mika Stojsavljevic, Hannah Klugman, and Mimi Xu have earned their main-draw wildcards, showcasing their potential over recent years.

Mika Stojsavljevic

At just 16, Stojsavljevic has made significant strides, winning the US Open girls' title last year. Born in west London to a Serb father and Polish mother, she stands 6ft tall and is known for her powerful serve and clean ball-striking, reminiscent of her idol Maria Sharapova. She recently won the British national junior championships and has been training at the LTA's National Academy in Loughborough.

Hannah Klugman

Klugman, also 16, has been a promising prospect for several years. In 2023, she won the prestigious Orange Bowl junior championships in Florida. Unlike her peers, Klugman chose to stay at home in Wimbledon, working with coach Ben Haran. Her preparation on clay, including time at Rafael Nadal's academy, helped her reach the French Open girls' final.

Mimi Xu

Xu, 17, is the most experienced of the trio, already ranked 302nd in the world. She left the national academy last year and now trains with Nigel Sears and Katie O'Brien. Xu earned her career-best win by defeating world number 52 Alycia Parks en route to the Birmingham quarter-finals.

Grand Slam Debut

Making their senior Grand Slam debuts at Wimbledon is a significant milestone for these young stars. They were awarded wildcards after discussions between the LTA and the All England Club. This year's Wimbledon is part of their journey to gain valuable experience and compete against the best in the world.

Future Prospects

'Success in junior tennis is a strong indicator of long-term potential, but it is no guarantee,' said Iain Bates, the LTA's head of women's tennis. 'The challenge for this group is working through each stage of the professional tour, getting the help and support where they can to play up.'

This year's Wimbledon is a crucial step in their development, offering them the opportunity to showcase their talent on one of the biggest stages in tennis.
