Ellie Roebuck Joins Aston Villa: A New Chapter for the England Keeper After Barcelona Exit
England goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck signs with Aston Villa after her stint at Barcelona, bringing her experience and skills to the Women's Super League.

Aston Villa has officially announced the signing of England goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck from Barcelona on a two-year deal. The 25-year-old, who spent last season with the Liga F champions, mutually agreed to terminate her contract with the Spanish giants.
Roebuck's time at Barcelona was limited, making only two appearances. She debuted in December last year and had a second appearance in February. Despite her brief stint, Roebuck's experience and skills remain highly regarded.
Before her move to Spain, Roebuck was a key player for Manchester City, making 136 appearances and securing seven major titles, including the Women's Super League, FA Cup, and League Cup on three occasions each.
"We are delighted that Ellie will be joining our club," said Aston Villa's director of women's football, Marisa Ewers. "She is an exciting addition to the team and is a player with a lot of experience who can help drive our performance levels."
Roebuck has earned 11 caps for the England national team but is not part of the squad for the upcoming Euro 2025 in Switzerland. Her move to Aston Villa is expected to bolster the team's defensive capabilities as they aim for success in the Women's Super League.
