Stefanos Tsitsipas Reunites with Father Apostolos as Coach After Ivanisevic Departure
Stefanos Tsitsipas has reappointed his father Apostolos as his coach after a brief stint with Goran Ivanisevic, aiming to regain his top form in tennis.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has decided to reunite with his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas, as his coach following a short-lived partnership with former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic. This move comes after a challenging period for the Greek tennis star, who has seen a significant drop in his rankings since parting ways with his father in 2024.
The Brief Stint with Ivanisevic
Ivanisevic, renowned for guiding Novak Djokovic to nine of his 24 Grand Slam titles, joined forces with Tsitsipas earlier this year. However, their collaboration ended abruptly after less than two months. Ivanisevic was notably critical of Tsitsipas, stating, "I have never seen such an unprepared player in my life," following Tsitsipas's first-round exit at Wimbledon.
Returning to Roots
Tsitsipas, who reached a career-high ranking of world number three under his father's guidance, has now turned back to Apostolos to help him regain his form. "Some journeys have a way of circling back to where they began," Tsitsipas shared on social media after a second-round defeat at the Canadian Open. "After some time apart, I've reunited with the person who first believed in me - my father. Sometimes, coming home is the boldest step forward."
Challenges and Adjustments
Reflecting on their previous split, Tsitsipas acknowledged the difficulties in their relationship. "I think I have to be strict with him. Sometimes I feel like he wants to do too many things on his own," he said. Despite these challenges, Tsitsipas expressed regret over the messy nature of their break-up and is optimistic about their renewed partnership.
Looking Ahead
With his father back in his corner, Tsitsipas aims to climb the rankings and make a strong impact in upcoming tournaments. The tennis world will be watching closely to see if this reunion can reignite the spark that once made Tsitsipas one of the most promising players on the tour.
