Nahyan Chowdhury Triumphs as Last Pundit Standing Champion at Wembley
Nahyan Chowdhury wins BBC's Last Pundit Standing, showcasing his football expertise at Wembley during the 2025 FA Cup final.

In a thrilling conclusion at Wembley Stadium, Nahyan Chowdhury was crowned the winner of the BBC's Last Pundit Standing, a competition designed to discover the next great football expert. Chowdhury, a 25-year-old chemist from Liverpool, emerged victorious after a series of challenging tasks that tested his knowledge, creativity, and ability to perform under pressure.
The Journey to Victory
Chowdhury was one of twelve finalists selected from over 400 applicants. Over seven episodes, the contestants faced challenges set by some of football's most prominent figures at iconic locations. Each task was crucial, with points awarded that determined who would advance to the semi-finals and ultimately, the final showdown at Wembley.
The Final Challenge
On the day of the 2025 FA Cup final, Chowdhury and fellow finalist Toby Addison were tasked with creating a bespoke 60-second social media video centered around the FA Cup final. Both finalists had previously won two challenges each, making the competition intense and closely contested.
A Full Circle Moment
Chowdhury's journey came full circle at Wembley. His first challenge at Goodison Park in episode one saw him as the only contestant to hit the woodwork in the crossbar challenge. Reflecting on his victory, Chowdhury said, "I had no idea I'd be in this position. If you asked me a year ago and you said you would be making content and be on a TV show, I'd have said 'no chance'. I never thought about it because you just don't see people like me doing that kind of thing. I am so lucky I have been thrown into this position."
Future Prospects
With a contract secured at BBC Sport, Chowdhury is set to begin his new role on August 12. He expressed his excitement and determination to make an immediate impact, stating, "I'm excited, get me in and get straight going. I wanted to get in there straight away and make an impact and prove I am a worthy winner."
A New Beginning
Chowdhury's victory is not just a personal triumph but a testament to his resilience and passion for football. As he aptly put it, "It's not the end, it's just the beginning. I am the last pundit standing."
