Amy Hunter's Century Leads Ireland to Dominant Victory Over Germany in T20 World Cup Qualifier
Amy Hunter's explosive 114* powered Ireland to a record 223-1, crushing Germany by 179 runs in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier.

In a stunning display of cricket, Ireland showcased their dominance with a commanding 179-run victory over Germany in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup European Qualifier. The match, held at the Hazelaarweg Stadion in Rotterdam, saw Amy Hunter emerge as the star player, scoring an unbeaten 114 runs off just 67 balls. This marked her second T20 century, achieved in a mere 61 deliveries.
Ireland's decision to bat first paid off handsomely as Hunter and Christina Coulter Reilly put up a solid opening partnership of 79 runs. Although Reilly was dismissed by Rameesha Shahid, Hunter continued her onslaught, supported by Leah Paul, who contributed a quickfire 62* from 33 balls. Together, they propelled Ireland to their highest-ever T20 total of 223-1.
Germany, in response, struggled immensely, managing only 44 runs in their 20 overs. Jane Maguire and Laura Delany were instrumental in dismantling the German batting lineup, with Maguire dismissing Wilhelmina Hornero-Garcia early on. Delany removed Karthika Vijayaraghavan and captain Asmita Kohli, while Cara Murray accounted for Shahid. None of the German batters reached double digits, highlighting the gulf in class between the two sides.
This victory solidifies Ireland's position in the qualifiers, having already defeated the Netherlands and Italy in the round-robin stage. With two spots available for the global qualifiers in Nepal, Ireland is well on track to secure their place. The global qualifiers will determine the final four teams for the 2026 T20 World Cup in England.
Ireland's next challenge comes on Tuesday against the Netherlands, where they will look to continue their winning momentum. With players like Hunter in top form, Ireland remains a formidable contender in the tournament.
