Kepu Tuipulotu: From Rugby Dynasty to England's Rising Star

Explore the journey of Kepu Tuipulotu, a young talent from a renowned rugby family, as he makes his mark with England in the Under-20 Six Nations.

Kepu Tuipulotu, at just 19 years old, is already making waves in the rugby world, showcasing his exceptional skills in the Under-20 Six Nations. Born into a family steeped in rugby tradition, Tuipulotu's journey from a promising young player to a key figure in England's rugby team is nothing short of inspirational.

A Legacy in Rugby

Tuipulotu's family is a veritable who's who of rugby. His father, Sione, had a distinguished career in Wales and represented Tonga in two Rugby World Cups. His sister, Sisilia, props for Wales, while his cousin, Carwyn Tuipulotu, is making a name for himself in France's Top 14 league. The family connections don't stop there; Wales number eight Taulupe Faletau and Scotland captain Sione are also cousins.

A Skill Beyond the Norm

What sets Tuipulotu apart is his unique skill set for a hooker. His ability to execute a well-weighted grubber kick, a skill honed from his early days playing in the back garden, has been a game-changer. This talent was on full display when he captained the England Under-18s against South Africa, and again in the Under-20 Six Nations against Scotland.

Choosing England

Born in south Wales to Tongan parents, Tuipulotu was educated at Harrow School and played for London Irish at under-17 and under-18 levels. After the dissolution of Irish, he joined Bath's academy, where he quickly made his senior debut with a hat-trick in the Premiership Cup. Despite receiving a call to train with Wales during last year's Six Nations, Tuipulotu chose to focus on his exams and the England pathway, a decision he believes was the right one.

Looking Ahead

Tuipulotu's rise in the rugby ranks is a testament to his dedication and talent. With the British and Irish Lions tour on the horizon, there's potential for Tuipulotu to join the senior international camp soon. His immediate focus, however, is on leading England to a Grand Slam in the Under-20 Six Nations, a fitting tribute to his family's rugby legacy and his own burgeoning career.
