Millwall Fined by FA for Homophobic Chants Against Chilwell

Millwall have been charged by the FA for homophobic chants aimed at Crystal Palace's Ben Chilwell during their FA Cup meeting last month.

Millwall have been charged with misconduct by the FA for homophobic chants aimed at Crystal Palace left-back Ben Chilwell during their FA Cup meeting last month. The chants occurred in the fifth and 20th minutes of the match. Millwall have until Wednesday to respond to the charge. The club has previously stated its zero-tolerance policy against discrimination of all kinds. Crystal Palace beat their south-east London rivals 3-1 in the fifth round last month, with the match marred by Lions goalkeeper Liam Roberts' red-card challenge on Jean-Philippe Mateta. Millwall were also condemned by the FA for chants of 'let him die' from some fans, aimed at Mateta while he was receiving treatment for his head injury. The 27-year-old Frenchman required 25 stitches for a 'severe laceration to his left ear'.
