Injury Concerns for Lions' Key Players Ahead of Crucial Australia Tour
The British and Irish Lions face injury concerns with key players Jamison Gibson-Park and Hugo Keenan ahead of their Australia tour opener against the Western Force.

The British and Irish Lions have arrived in Perth for their highly anticipated Australia tour, but concerns over player injuries are casting a shadow over their preparations. Scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park and full-back Hugo Keenan are both nursing injuries that could sideline them for the opening game against the Western Force on Saturday.
Gibson-Park is dealing with a glute issue, while Keenan is recovering from a calf injury. Both players missed Leinster's victory in the United Rugby Championship (URC) final, and their availability for the Lions' first match remains uncertain. Head coach Andy Farrell expressed cautious optimism, stating, "We'll see how they pull up in midweek."
On a positive note, Scotland centre Huw Jones has fully recovered from an Achilles injury and is ready to contribute to the team's efforts. "Huw Jones is good, he's been training. He trained fully with us last week so he's up and running," Farrell confirmed.
The Lions are expected to field a mixed squad featuring players from Leinster, Bath, and Leicester, despite their late arrival after the URC and Premiership finals. The team is focused on building momentum for the upcoming Test series, with Farrell emphasizing the importance of playing quality rugby and learning from their recent 28-24 defeat by Argentina.
"We're here to build for what's going to be a fantastic Test series. We want to play some good rugby along the way," Farrell added. "We'll find out more about each other as we keep on going. Of course we'll analyze what went on against Argentina and why, but that's all part of the journey - to understand where we need to go next."
The Lions' tour promises to be an exciting chapter in their storied history, with fans eagerly anticipating the clash against the Western Force. Despite the injury concerns, the team remains determined to make a strong start to their Australian campaign.
