Scottish Powerhouses Hibs and Glasgow Gear Up for Women's Champions League Showdown

Scottish champions Hibernian and runners-up Glasgow City prepare for their Women's Champions League qualifying matches against Fortuna Hjorring and Austria Vienna.

Scottish champions Hibernian are set to face Danish title holders Fortuna Hjorring in the second round of the Women's Champions League qualifying. This comes after Hibs' dramatic victory in the Scottish Women's Premier League last season. Should they overcome Fortuna, Hibs will face the winner of the match between Apollon Ladies (Cyprus) and Young Boys (Switzerland).

Meanwhile, Glasgow City, who finished just three points behind Hibs in the league, will take on Austria Vienna. The winner of this encounter will face Minsk for a spot in the third qualifying round.

The format of the competition involves a 'mini-tournament' where the teams play semi-finals and a final at a single venue, which is yet to be decided. The winners progress to the last qualifying round before the new 18-team league phase, mirroring the men's competition. Runners-up and third-place teams will drop into the qualifying rounds for the new Europa Cup.

The semi-finals are scheduled for 27 August, with the finals and third-place play-offs to follow three days later.
