Keira Walsh: A New Chapter at Chelsea

Keira Walsh expresses her ambitions to grow at Chelsea after joining from Barcelona, aiming for Champions League glory.

Keira Walsh, the talented England midfielder, has officially embraced a new challenge with Chelsea FC after her high-profile move from FC Barcelona. After making her debut as a substitute in the 78th minute during a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Aston Villa in the Women's Super League (WSL), Walsh reflected on her journey and future aspirations.

Having previously celebrated tremendous success with Barcelona, where she contributed to back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles and two Liga F championships, the 27-year-old recognizes that her career is still on an upward trajectory. "I’m still only 27, and I feel like I've got a lot to improve on," Walsh noted, revealing her desire for personal growth and development in this new chapter.

Joining forces with American defender Naomi Girma, who made headlines with her world-record transfer fee, Walsh aims to bolster Chelsea’s ambitions under the guidance of manager Sonia Bompastor. "I think she can still make me improve as a player," Walsh stated. "When I spoke to her, I felt that she could do that and she gave me the confidence, just being a part of this team and being with those players."

Walsh’s move back to England from Spain was fueled by a desire to reunite with family while competing in one of the most competitive leagues in women's football. The 2025 WSL season is proving to be an intense battlefield, and Walsh is eager to contribute to Chelsea’s success: "What brought me to Chelsea is they always find a way to win. I’m ambitious; I want to win trophies, and I think the club matches my ambition."

Currently sitting 10 points clear at the top of the WSL, the Blues are eyeing their sixth consecutive title. Walsh firmly believes that the tenacity and world-class talent within the squad can translate to European success: "I think it’s the grit... they always find a way to win, no matter how the goals come. I think that's the exciting thing for me because we've got so many levels to go. Hopefully, I can win the Champions League with an English team."

With ambitions high and the competition fierce, Keira Walsh's journey at Chelsea is just beginning, and fans are eager to see how she will shine in this new environment as she focuses on achieving collective greatness.
