Baroness Campbell, the esteemed former director of women's football at the Football Association, has been appointed the new chair of England Netball, effective January 2025. This announcement comes after her retirement from the FA in November 2024, where she dedicated eight transformative years to the elevation of women's sports in England.

In her new role, Campbell succeeds Bridget Blow CBE and is poised to bring her wealth of experience to the netball sector. Speaking on BBC's Woman's Hour, she expressed her ambition to pave the way for England’s netball team to become the best in the world. "The sport is in a good place, and I'm going to be working closely with Fran Connolly, the CEO of England Netball, to develop our strategies and ensure we capitalize on existing strengths for sustained growth," she stated.

Baroness Campbell highlighted the significance of recent achievements in women's sports, particularly pointing to the Lionesses' monumental success in winning the European Championship at Wembley in 2022 and their commendable run to the World Cup final in 2023. She noted, "Winning the Euros turbocharged everything, and we must channel that momentum into netball."

Looking ahead, Campbell emphasized the critical upcoming tournaments, including the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the World Championships, both on the horizon. "We need to target victories in these competitions; these wins will further inspire and encourage more young girls to engage in our sport. Our goal is not just to compete, but to excel and inspire a new generation of netball players," she concluded.
